The next step in human space exploration is to further explore our natural satellite and build a permanent base on the Moon. How will this future Moon infrastructure be constructed? One possibility is to 3D print it!

The ESA Education teacher training online course on the topic of “3D design in education” is aimed at beginners and it will provide an introduction to 3D design, its use in education and relate it to space applications. You will use the 3D design software Tinkercad and experience the first steps in 3D design through dedicated hands-on activities.

3D Design and 3D printing are increasingly relevant topics in the space industry and other branches of business. In this workshop you will be introduced to some cutting edge applications of 3D printing in space.

This training will also help you see how to further explore the topic of 3D design with your students by joining the Moon Camp Challenge, an educational school project run by ESA and Airbus Foundation in collaboration with Autodesk, where students 3D design their own lunar shelter adapted to the harsh environmental conditions on the Moon.

The online training is open to primary and secondary school teachers of STEM-related subjects residing and working within any ESA Member State. Teachers from Canada, Slovenia, Latvia and Malta may also apply, due to specific agreements with ESA.
